SZA Appears in New Teaser for Super Bowl Halftime Show
On Thursday the Compton-based rapper released a promotional teaser and announced SZA will join him for the festivities at the Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9.
While standing on a football field, Lamar declares to someone on the phone that he's "been thinking about a guest performer," before getting cut off by SZA, who spills a cooler of blue drink onto him in slow motion.
SZA's appearance doesn't come as much of a surprise, as she and Lamar used to be signed with Top Dawg Entertainment. The two have collaborated on several tracks since their time on TDE including, "All the Stars", "Doves in the Wind", "Luther", "Gloria", and "30 for 30" to name a few.
Kendrick Lamar Has Been Keeping Busy the Last Few Months
Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner in September. He made an appearance as a special guest during Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's star-studded, West Coast-themed halftime show in 2022. Now, Lamar gets to display his full artistic prowess in front of thousands of fans in New Orleans and across the globe.
The performance comes on the heels of a historic 2024 for K. Dot. He got into a lopsided battle with Drake and ultimately provided us with the hit single 'Not Like Us' before releasing his critically acclaimed album 'GNX'. With seven nominations for this year's Grammys and the halftime show coming just a week later, Lamar is surely looking to carry his momentum into 2025. And he'll need to keep it up after New Orleans as he and his special guest will head out on a stadium run for the North American leg of their Grand National Tour starting up in April.
