Mark Andrews Breaks Silence Following Ravens Loss
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson led the Ravens down the field and capped it off with a touchdown strike to their rising tight end Isaiah Likely. After a failed two-point conversion in the third quarter, the Ravens needed to convert on a two-point conversion to tie the game. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson found a wide-open Mark Andrews in the right corner of the endzone which would have tied the game, but Andrews fumbled the ball on his way to the turf.
Following the Ravens' loss to the Bills, Andrews came under heavy criticism from both fans in the media. On January 23, the star tight end finally broke his silence.
"It's impossible to adequately express how I feel. I'm absolutely gutted by what happened on Sunday. I'm devastated for my teammates, my coaches, and Ravens fans," Andrews wrote in the Instagram post.
"I pour every ounce of my being into playing at the highest level possible because I love my team and the game of football like nothing else. That is why it's taken me until now to collect my thoughts and address this publicly."
Ravens Star Addresses "Negativity" Following the Loss
In addition to the disappointment, Andrews also addressed the negativity that has been spewed in his direction and sent a special thank you to the fans who have continued to support him.
"Even though the shock and disappointment are unlike anything I've felt before, I refuse to let the situation define me. I promise that this adversity will only make me stronger and fuel us as we move forward. I thank everyone who has shown me and our team genuine support these past several days," Andrews continued.
"Despite the negativity, I've seen heartfelt love and encouragement, including from those who have generously donated to the Breakthrough T1D organization. Even when the moment seems darkest, perspective can reveal that there's still a lot of light in this world. I'm now going to do my part to bounce back and contribute to it."
