Super Bowl 59 will make history on Sunday, Feb. 9, as President Donald Trump becomes the first sitting commander-in-chief to attend the big game. This is not lost on Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who called it a big honor.

Kelce provided the update during a busy media week in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a video from the New York Post showed, he explained exactly why it's so significant to have a president in attendance for the Big Game.
"It's a great honor," Kelce said. "I think — no matter who the president is — I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life. You know? And having the president there — it's the best country in the world — so it will be pretty cool."

Kelce has previous experience meeting a different president. He previously made trips to the White House in 2023 and 2024 after winning consecutive Super Bowls. He and the rest of the Kansas City players met then-President Joe Biden. They also presented him with custom No. 46 Chiefs jerseys.
Kelce did not have the opportunity to visit the White House after winning his first Lombardi Trophy. The Chiefs defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl 54. This game took place on Feb. 2, 2020. The White House visit was then canceled due to COVID-19.
Why does Kelce call Super Bowl 59 the biggest game of his life? The answer is simple — the Chiefs have an opportunity to make NFL history. All they need to do is defeat the Eagles and become the first team to win three consecutive Lombardi Trophies.
The Chiefs became the eighth team to win back-to-back Super Bowls last season when they defeated the 49ers. They were the first to do so since the Patriots. However, none of these teams have won three in a row.
