The university announced the news on Feb. 6 and said that Faulk will take over as the running backs coach. He will work alongside fellow Pro Football Hall of Fame member Deion Sanders, who returns as head coach.
Faulk is the latest Hall of Fame member to join the Buffaloes coaching staff. He follows Warren Sapp, who is a senior quality assistant for the defense.
One of the greatest to ever play the game.

Faulk is one of the most productive running backs in NFL history. He won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1994 after rushing for 1,282 yards and 11 touchdowns. He earned his first of seven trips to the Pro Bowl.
Faulk played in the NFL for 12 seasons — five with the Colts and seven with the Rams — and he rushed for at least 1,000 yards seven times. When he retired, he was the only player in NFL history with at least 12,000 rushing yards and 6,000 receiving yards.
He was named All-Pro three times and he won MVP in 2000 after leading the league with 18 rushing touchdowns. Faulk appeared in two Super Bowls with the Rams, winning one.
The former NFL player will now take on the first coaching role of his career as he replaces Gary Harrell, who held the position for two seasons.
The Buffaloes posted a 9-4 record last season as future NFL quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He drove the offense during games against Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Utah, and Baylor.
The rushing attack did not produce as frequently during the 2024 season. According to The Press-Enterprise, the Buffaloes ranked last among 134 FBS teams in rushing.
Isaiah Augustave was the leading rusher with 384 yards and four touchdowns. Dallan Hayden added 196 yards and one touchdown while Micah Welch added 186 yards and four touchdowns. Charlie Offerdahl rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown.
