According to the police report, on January 14, the former Kansas City Chiefs player had been accused of putting his hand around a woman's throat during a dispute at a Georgia residence.
Reportedly, he squeezed "with enough force to cause her to be unable to breath."
Then the authorities say that Toney took the woman's phone from her during the altercation, as he was trying to prevent her from calling 911.
The next day an arrest warrant was issued for the NFL player, who faces charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, and obstructing/harassing 911 calls. Ultimately, he ended up posting bail (set at $25,000 for each count).
Notably, Toney was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, before he was traded to the Chiefs, where he caught (and dropped) passes from Patrick Mahomes en route to two Super Bowl victories.
In view of his latest stint with the Cleveland Browns, the 26-year-old was waived and is now a free agent.
However, considering his off-the-field and questionable character issues, it may be long road back to playing again for the once promising speedster out of Florida.
