Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested in Williamson County, Texas on Friday night over serious domestic violence allegations.

According to police, Xavier is accused of assault against a "family or household member" by impeding their breathing or circulation.
In Texas, this is a third-degree felony that carries a punishment of 2-10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
That is, the NFL star's lawyers, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, have issued a response statement on Worthy's behalf.
"We are aware of the allegation that led to Mr. Worthy's arrest. We are working with law enforcement in Williamson County to ensure they have the benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation."
"The complainant was asked multiple times over the last two weeks to vacate Mr. Worthy's residence upon discovery of her infidelity, which a private investigator has video evidence of. She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy."
The statement continued, "The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy's face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of. Mr. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident that he did not want to press charges against the complainant..."
Worthy's counsel believes following investigation his innocence will be proven.
In view of Worthy's rookie season, the speedster had 742 total yards and nine touchdowns. And in Super Bowl LIX, he caught eight passes for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 22-40 loss.
This recent run-in with the law adds to a long list of Chiefs players, who have also gotten in trouble, such as fellow wideout Rashee Rice, who last offseason was going 119 mph and caused a six-car crash in Dallas, Texas that sent two people to the hospital.
Then when looking at Chiefs' Kareem Hunt (shoved and kicked a woman) and former KC WR's, Tyreek Hill (arrested for domestic violence) and Kadarius Toney (aggravated assault, strangulation of a woman), it certainly appears the 4x Super Bowl winning organization does not have a strict screening process when acquiring players for their roster.
