Frankie Muniz is sidelined, and not because of a wreck on the track.

The "Malcolm in the Middle" star turned NASCAR driver announced he'll miss the next six to eight weeks after breaking his wrist in a freak accident at home. Muniz said he fell off the top of a ladder while changing the batteries in a Ring camera in his backyard.
"The phrase 'FML' (Frankie Muniz's Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these," he wrote on Instagram. "I won't be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture. Note to self: heed the ladder warning that says, 'Do not sit or stand on top step.'"
Muniz added that he should have used a taller ladder but is thankful the injury wasn't worse. "I feel for my team, who've poured their hearts into this season," he said. "The doctor estimates a 6-8 week recovery, so I'll be back in the driver's seat as soon as I'm cleared."
The injury is just the latest setback in Muniz's racing journey. Nearly a year ago, he was banged up in a multi-car crash during a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in Arizona. Cameras caught him limping and needing help into an ambulance, though he later told reporters he was "OK."
Muniz, 38, traded Hollywood for horsepower years ago and has embraced racing full-time. "It's a dream come true," he said last year on Fox & Friends. "If I'm going to do this, I want to dedicate myself 100% to being the best driver I can be."
For now, the dedication will have to wait while the wrist heals. But Muniz says he'll be back — and when he is, he'll probably stay off the top step of any ladder.
