Florida State linebacker Ethan Pritchard is in critical but stable condition after being shot Sunday night while visiting family in Havana, Florida.

The school confirmed the news Monday in a statement but provided no further details about the incident.
Pritchard, a true freshman, was a four-star recruit out of Seminole High School in Sanford. He committed to FSU last October over offers from Florida, Miami, UCF and others. The 6-foot-2 linebacker didn't see the field in Saturday's 31-17 upset win over Alabama, but defensive coordinator Tony White recently praised his progress.
"He's showing out and doing some nice stuff," White said, via Warchant.com. "It's up and down, but he's showing his athletic ability and that he's going to be a really good linebacker here in the future."
Pritchard was one of the Seminoles' most highly touted newcomers in 2024, viewed as a building block for the program's defensive future.
FSU officials are expected to release information today about the condition of LB Ethan Pritchard, who was seriously wounded in a shooting late Sunday night.

For now, though, football is on hold. The focus is on his recovery after a frightening turn just one week into his college career.
Per Warchant.com: "The Pritchard family is thankful for the support from so many people, as well as the care from first responders and medical professionals, and asks that their privacy be respected at this time. Further updates will be provided as they are available."
Police said there was no threat to the public as this appears to be an isolated incident.
