Jerry Jones may be about to hear from the NFL office again.

The Dallas Cowboys owner was caught on video giving the finger to New York Jets fans during Sunday's 37-22 win at MetLife Stadium. Jones made the gesture openly but briefly, apparently assuming no one was filming. He was wrong.
The league has a track record of punishing owners for that kind of behavior. In 2009, then-Titans owner Bud Adams was fined $250,000 for flipping off Buffalo Bills fans. More recently, Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined after throwing a drink at a fan during a December 2023 game.
If the NFL decides to follow precedent, Jones could be next in line for discipline. A fine wouldn't exactly dent his wallet, but the optics would add another entry to his long list of colorful sideline and suite moments.

Sunday's game probably didn't help his self-control. Dallas improved to 2-2-1 with a convincing win, their first statement performance since trading Micah Parsons earlier this season. Jones has been publicly adamant that the team would be just fine without the star defender, despite plenty of skepticism.
Beating the Jets in their building likely felt like a chance to fire back at critics. Unfortunately for Jones, a middle finger aimed at opposing fans rarely stays in the stands.
The league has not commented on the incident yet, but history suggests some form of punishment is on the table.
