TMZ reports Brown will remain in Essex County Jail until Florida officials pick him up. From there, he'll be transported to face the felony case related to that chaotic night in mid-May at an Adin Ross charity boxing event, where Brown is accused of trying to shoot and kill Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.

The confrontation was partially caught on video, including a clip of Brown grabbing a gun and running with it. Brown spoke with law enforcement that night and claimed self-defense. He was allowed to leave.

In June, an arrest warrant was issued, but Brown wasn't even in the country. This week, he was extradited from Dubai back to the United States.

It's the latest twist in a post-playing career filled with headlines.

Brown was once one of the NFL's signature star receivers — a seven-time Pro Bowler with the Steelers who twice led the league in receiving yards and helped Tom Brady win a Super Bowl in Tampa.

But his exit from Pittsburgh, that brief Raiders saga, the quick one-game New England stint, and the walk-off in Tampa turned his Hall-of-Fame projection into a long trail of controversy.

Now his next stop is a Florida courtroom.
