A Paris court ruled on Tuesday that the French professional football club must pay Mbappe more than 60 million euros ($70 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses. This money is tied to the end of his contract with the team, his departure to Real Madrid, and a June 2025 lawsuit in which Mbappe accused the club of moral harassment.

Mbappe's lawyers said that PSG never paid him wages and bonuses for April, May, and June 2024. However, PSG's lawyer's said that the footballer had backed out of an August 2023 deal that included a pay reduction if he left via free transfer. This type of transfer occurrs when a player departs one club for another without paying a transfer fee.

PSG's lawyers claimed that Mbappe hid his decision to not extend his contract with the team for nearly a full year. These lawyers claimed that this caused major financial harm as the club could not arrange a transfer.

According to the Associated Press, lawyers for both sides of this dispute presented their arguments to the Conseil de prud'hommes de Paris last month. Mbappe's side sought 260 million euros ($305 million) while PSG's side sought 440 million euro ($516 million) in damages.

The 440 million euros includes 180 million euros for PSG's lost opportunity to transfer the footballer. It is worth noting that Mbappe turned down a 300 million euros offer from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal in July 2023.

Mbappe joined Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017 after a stint with Monaco. He immediately made an impact while scoring multiple goals and helping the club secure wins. His first tenure with the team featured a Ligue 1 title amid the COVID-disrupted 2020 season.

The young footballer signed a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain in May 2022, which made him the highest-paid player in the world. This deal was said to expire in June 2025. However, it ran through 2024 with an option to extend into 2025.

Mbappe ultimately spent seven years with PSG while scoring a club-record 256 goals. He left for Real Madrid in 2024, but the ties to PSG did not end due to this lawsuit.
