There will be no quiet exit from Kansas City. Andy Reid is expected to remain on the sideline for the 2026 season, according to NFL Network, easing any speculation that the longtime head coach was nearing the end of his run with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Multiple sources told the network that Reid has no plans to step away, even after a disappointing season that will see Kansas City miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
"Coach Reid ain't going out like this," one source told NFL Network. Another added simply, "He'll be back."
Reid has not publicly hinted at retirement, and with the Chiefs already eliminated from postseason contention, he will have a full offseason to reset and prepare for what figures to be a pivotal year.
There will be plenty to sort through, starting with the health of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL. Reid has expressed confidence in Mahomes' recovery process.
"There have been some pretty good quarterbacks who have had the same injury, and they've done pretty well after they came back," Reid told reporters. "He'll get after it, and he's got good people here to rehab him."
There are other looming questions as well, including whether tight end Travis Kelce will consider retirement. Kelce said this week he would "rather keep the focus on this team, right now."
Change could still be coming on the coaching staff. NFL Network reported that offensive coordinator Matt Nagy did not sign an extension last offseason and is set to become a free agent after the year.
Reid, though, appears set to lead whatever comes next.
