The United Football League's Birmingham Stallions strongly hinted Thursday that they could have interest in the former Vanderbilt quarterback.
The Stallions' official social media account reposted a comment speculating about Pavia's next move and added the eyes emoji, a not-so-subtle way of signaling they are paying attention. It was enough to get noticed, especially given Pavia's situation.

Pavia has exhausted his college eligibility and is viewed as a fringe NFL prospect. That puts him in a familiar spot for players on the bubble. The UFL may not be the first choice for most quarterbacks coming out of college, but it does offer something valuable. Namely, a chance to keep playing, stay visible, and continue building a profile.
And visibility is where Pavia has thrived.
His brash public persona has drawn plenty of criticism along the way, but it has also made him one of the more talked-about quarterbacks in the country. From a marketing standpoint alone, that matters.
A spring league team looking to attract attention could do far worse than adding a player who already knows how to command it.
On the field, Pavia backed it up. He threw for 3,539 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season, leading Vanderbilt to a 10-win campaign that briefly pushed the program into playoff contention. He finished second in Heisman Trophy voting, falling short only to Fernando Mendoza of Indiana.
Whether Pavia ultimately lands with Birmingham or elsewhere remains to be seen. But the message from the Stallions was clear: If he wants to keep playing football, at least one professional team is already watching.
