The longtime Yankees voice sent a blunt text message to former ESPN Radio collegaue Peter Rosenberg, telling him "you're dead to me," Rosenberg revealed this week on Don, Hahn and Rosenberg.

According to Don La Greca, the issue stems from Rosenberg complimenting someone else in the media space, something Kay apparently did not appreciate.

"He's mad at Peter because Peter doesn't think he's the best at something," La Greca said. "He didn't disrespect him. You didn't make him the best. That's ridiculous."

The compliment in question came on Rosenberg's Cheap Heat wrestling podcast, where he praised Joe Tessitore for his work. Rosenberg described Tessitore as "the best point guard I've maybe ever worked with," adding that wrestling coverage is now hard to imagine without him.

Tessitore is currently the voice of WWE SmackDown and occasionally works alongside Rosenberg on pre shows and special segments. He has also called college football and boxing and had a brief run as a play by play announcer on Monday Night Football.

Kay, Rosenberg and La Greca worked together on ESPN Radio from 2015 until Kay went solo in 2024. Rosenberg did not hold back when describing the fallout.

"Michael is the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral," Rosenberg said. "Everything has to be Michael."

The tension surfaced shortly after Kay said earlier this month that his off-air relationship with Rosenberg had faded since they stopped working together.

Kay, for what it's worth, is not going anywhere. He signed a multi-year extension with the YES Network in March 2023 and will continue as the voice of the Yankees.
