The Cleveland Browns defensive back was hospitalized after being assaulted by multiple individuals in a New York hotel lobby, according to reports. The incident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. at the SIXTY LES hotel on the Lower East Side.

Per the New York Post, Hickman was attacked by four people in the lobby and was struck before the group fled the scene. Police have not said whether the incident was targeted or random, and it remains unclear if Hickman was recognized by the attackers.

Hickman was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The good news came later in the day. He was released by Monday afternoon and returned home.

The Browns confirmed the incident in a statement, referring to Hickman as a victim of assault.

"Ronnie was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital after the incident, was later released, and is home resting with his family," the team said.

Hickman is coming off a breakout season in Cleveland, emerging as a key piece in the secondary. He finished the year with 103 total tackles and two interceptions while appearing in all 17 games. At just 24, he has positioned himself well ahead of restricted free agency this offseason.

There are no reports of serious injuries, and there is no indication that Hickman was involved in any wrongdoing. This appears to be a case of someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Browns did not provide further details, and no arrests have been announced.
