PEOPLE provided the first details about Fournette's proposal to Jaime Jones. According to the outlet, Fournette popped the question on March 1 at Davis Islands Beach in Tampa, Florida. He worked with Take My Hand Proposals and used huge white letters to spell out "Marry Me." This served as the backdrop as he knelt among roses.

The former NFL running back told PEOPLE that he had been thinking about the proposal for about six months. So, he purchased Brilliant Earth's Secret Garden Wrap Lab Diamond Ring, which features a 4.04-carat diamond up top. He then got on his knee and officially asked Jones to marry him.

"He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the lord," Fournette wrote in his Instagram post officially announcing the engagement.

Fournette, who prefers to keep his private life relatively under wraps, entered the NFL as the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He went from one of the top SEC schools, LSU, to the AFC South as he landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The former LSU back spent the first three seasons of his NFL career (2017-2019) in Jacksonville. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards two times while scoring 17 touchdowns. He only played in eight games in 2018 mostly due to a lingering hamstring injury.

The Jaguars declined Fournette's fifth-year option after the 2019 season and then the team waived him. He signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers and became the backup to Ronald Jones II.

Fournette only rushed for 367 yards and six touchdowns during the regular season, but he turned up the dial during the playoffs. He created "Playoff Lenny" with his big plays while rushing for 300 yards and three touchdowns. This includes 89 yards and one touchdown during the Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.

The Louisiana native spent three seasons with the Buccaneers. He rushed for 1,847 yards, 111 first downs, and 17 touchdowns. He then closed out his career in 2023 by appearing in two games for the Bills.
