Life online isn't always easy. Just ask golf influencer Paige Spiranac.

As her following has grown into the millions, so has the criticism that comes with it. That part isn't new. What stood out recently was how she chose to respond.
With humor.

Spiranac shared a post pointing out one particular commenter who shows up under nearly everything she uploads.
"There is this guy who comments 'great cans' on everything I post," she wrote. "In a world full of hate and despair I know he will always be there for me to lift my spirits."
It's the kind of line that says a lot without trying too hard — because behind the joke, there's been something more going on.

Spiranac recently admitted she's been dealing with a mental "funk," explaining that anxiety and overthinking have kept her from posting as much as usual. It wasn't just a couple of days. It lingered.
"I feel like I've just been so in my head about everything," she shared, adding that she's working through it and trying to get back to herself.
She also made a point that feels familiar to a lot of people in her position. She believes she's misunderstood.

That disconnect between how she sees herself and how others perceive her has been part of the challenge, she said. It's also part of what she's trying to push through.
The goal moving forward sounds simple: More fun. More golf. Less overthinking.
And maybe, just maybe, a few less comments to sort through along the way.
