The decision is retroactive to Sunday, one day after Crochet allowed three hits over six scoreless innings in a 17-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. That game now stands as a turning point of sorts. Within hours, the Red Sox made sweeping changes, parting ways with manager Alex Cora and multiple members of the coaching staff following a 10-17 start.
The #RedSox today placed LHP Garrett Crochet on the 15-Day Injured List (retroactive to April 26) with left shoulder inflammation. To fill his spot, Boston recalled INF/OF Nate Eaton from Triple-A Worcester.

Crochet, 26, is 3-3 with a 6.30 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP in six starts this season. The numbers are a step back from 2025, when he emerged as one of the American League's top pitchers and finished as the Cy Young Award runner-up.
Boston has not provided a timeline for Crochet's return. Shoulder inflammation is often handled cautiously, especially given his role at the top of the rotation.
The timing adds another layer to what has already been a chaotic stretch for the club. The Red Sox dismissed not only Cora but also several coaches in what team officials described as an effort to reset the season and capitalize on the games remaining.
For his career, Crochet is 30-27 with a 3.17 ERA in 142 appearances, including 70 starts.
To fill his roster spot, Boston recalled Nate Eaton from Triple-A Worcester. Eaton was hitting .292 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in the minors this season.
