Cops Reveal How Many Arrests Were Made During the NFL Draft

Pittsburgh hosted a massive party for the NFL Draft last weekend, and by most accounts, it stayed pretty well under control.

City officials said about 805,000 fans showed up over the three-day event, setting a new attendance record and topping the 775,000 who turned out in Detroit in 2024, per CBS News. That is a whole lot of people packed into one place, which made public safety a major focus heading in.

In the end, Pittsburgh Public Safety reported 20 total arrests across the three days.

Here is where it stands out. Only two of those arrests happened within the actual draft footprint on the North Shore, the heart of where fans were gathering. One of those was a misdemeanor handled by Pennsylvania State Police at Point State Park.

The other 17 arrests came in different parts of the city, outside the main draft zone.

Given the size of the crowd, officials are viewing that as a win.

City leaders took to social media afterward to thank the many departments involved, from police and EMS to fire crews and emergency management teams, for keeping things running smoothly.

When you bring in more than 800,000 people, things can get unpredictable in a hurry. Pittsburgh avoided that for the most part and came away with a record crowd and relatively few issues.
