WATCH - F1 Driver Flips in Wild Miami GP Crash

Pure chaos unfolded in the opening laps of the Miami Grand Prix as multiple incidents took place. One, in particular, sent Pierre Gasly flipping into the tire barriers.

This crash occurred on Lap 6 of the Formula 1 race. Gasly went to overtake Liam Lawson on the outside on a straight section of the course. As they entered the left-hand turn, Lawson locked up the tires on his F1 car. He hit Gasly near the rear tire, which sent the Frenchman flipping over.

The No. 10 Alpine entry landed on two of its wheels before backing into the tire barriers. The right-rear wheel remained on the tire barrier while the right-front wheel hung in the air.

The safety car headed out onto the track to respond to this incident, as well as another featuring Isack Hadjar. This incident ended Gasly's day, but he radioed the team to say that he was ok after the flip.

The incident with Hadjar occurred before Gasly's flip. The Red Bull driver entered the Turn 14/15 portion of the track, but he clipped the inside barrier. This broke the suspension on his race car and sent it nose-first into another section of the barrier.

This collision destroyed the front of the Red Bull car and ended Hadjar's day. He responded by pounding his steering wheel in frustration.

The opening of the race also featured chaos. Kimi Antonelli started on the pole, but he did not have control after the lights went out. He crawled off the line while Charles Leclerc used the opportunity to go three-wide and pass for the lead.

Max Verstappen, who started on the front row, then took the lead from Leclerc in Turn 1, but he then suddenly spun in the middle of the field. Yet, the four-time F1 champion did not cause a wreck. He got his Red Bull car pointed in the right direction and he only lost a few positions.

The race continued as the drivers battled for the win. Their teams continued watching the skies as thunderstorms approached the area.
