UConn guard Solo Ball will miss the entire 2026-27 season after undergoing wrist surgery, the program announced. He will take a medical redshirt and is expected to return for the 2027-28 basketball season.

Coach Dan Hurley said Ball plans to use the year to fully recover.

"Solo is a true Husky and a champion who would do anything to be out on the court," Hurley said. "He's a warrior. He'll get healthy and come back as one of the best guards in the country."

Ball has been a steady presence for UConn men's basketball. He has started all but one game over the past two seasons and averaged 13.6 points during that stretch. He has scored 1,153 career points and ranks 10th in program history with 199 three-pointers.

The 6-foot-4 junior also earned multiple All-Big East and All-District honors and was a top-five finalist for the Jerry West Award last season.

UConn loses an experienced scorer and backcourt leader for the upcoming year. The expectation is that Ball returns healthy with a chance to pick up where he left off.
