According to Spotrac, the receiver signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys worth $1,487,500. This includes a guaranteed $187,500 signing bonus. He will carry a relatively small cap hit at $1,262,500.

He will spend the summer and training camp competing with such players as Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and Jonathan Mingo for spots in the rotation behind established starters CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. This list also includes seventh-round pick Anthony Smith, a wide receiver out of East Carolina.

The offseason program truly starts in June for the veteran players. They will take part Mandatory OTAs on June 1-2, June 8-9, and June 11. They will then attend Mandatory Minicamp on June 16-18.

Training camp will then begin in late July. The Cowboys have not released the exact dates just yet, but this camp will set up the players for the preseason and then the regular season.

A fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Valdes-Scantling spent last season split between the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He appeared in 10 games and caught 14 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown.

Valdes-Scantling started his career with the Green Bay Packers in 2018. He spent four seasons with the NFC North team while catching 123 passes for 2,153 yards and 13 touchdowns. He never posted more than 690 yards in a single season, but he led the NFL with 20.9 yards-per-reception during the 2020 season.

Valdes-Scantling spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. Much like his time in Green Bay, he played a depth role with the team while catching 63 passes for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns.

He then split the 2024 season between the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. He posted 19 receptions for 411 yards and four touchdowns.
