This one came out of nowhere... or maybe not.

Former MLB pitcher Noah Syndergaard is firing back a bit at ex Alex Cooper after comments she made that appeared to reference him.
Syndergaard didn't go all-in. But he didn't ignore it either.
"I haven't spoken to her in eight years," he said on a podcast appearance. "I guess I continue to live rent-free in her head."
That's one way to put it.
The comments stem from things Cooper said on her "Call Her Daddy" podcast, where she talked about dating athletes in the past. She didn't name Syndergaard directly at first, but the dots weren't hard to connect. At one point, she reportedly took a shot at his career, too.
The former pitcher called it a "cheap shot," then kind of brushed it off.
Said it didn't bother him. Said it was "comical."
Still, he responded. Which usually tells you something.
To his credit, he didn't take things much further. When asked if Cooper has changed since they dated, he basically declined to get into it.
Probably the smart move.
Both have clearly moved on. Cooper is married and building her media brand. Syndergaard says his life looks a lot different now than it did during his New York days. Less nightlife. More low-key. Farmers markets, golf, that kind of thing.
He also admitted something that tends to come up with pro athletes.
Figuring out who's real isn't always easy. That part felt honest.
The rest of this? Feels like one of those situations where nobody was really looking for a back-and-forth... but it showed up anyway.
