Strippers in Montreal Call for Strike During Formula 1 Weekend

Just when you thought the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix weekend couldn't get any busier... here comes a twist nobody had on the bingo card.

Strip clubs in Montreal may be going quiet during one of their loudest weekends of the year.

Yes, really.

A group representing dancers, the Sex Work Autonomous Committee, is threatening a strike right as Formula One rolls into town. Historically, that weekend is a gold mine for local nightlife. Packed clubs. Big spenders. Long nights. You get the idea.

So naturally, this is when they're choosing to make a point.

The issue? Classification. Dancers say they're treated as independent contractors on paper, but still answer to club management in ways that don't exactly scream "independent." In their view, it's the worst of both worlds. No employee protections, but plenty of oversight.

And honestly... you can see the argument.

Using a major racing event to spotlight a labor dispute isn't exactly new. It just usually doesn't come with this particular backdrop.

Oh, and because Montreal apparently decided to schedule everything at once, there's more. The Montreal Canadiens are also flirting with a deep playoff run, meaning the city could be juggling hockey chaos and F1 madness at the same time.

Fast cars. Playoff pressure. Potential labor strike.

Montreal might be the busiest place on the planet that weekend.
