According to Dallas County court documents, the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver tested positive for THC, which violated conditions tied to his probation agreement. As a result, Rice was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and is expected to be released June 16.

Rice was booked into the Dallas County jail around noon, according to local authorities. NBC 5 reported that attempts to reach Rice's attorneys and the Chiefs for comment were unsuccessful.

The latest development adds another chapter to a situation that has followed Rice for more than two years.

Back in March 2024, Rice was involved in a multi-car crash on a Dallas highway while allegedly driving at speeds approaching 120 mph. Authorities said he left the scene before police arrived, though he later accepted responsibility in a public statement.

After an arrest warrant was issued, Rice turned himself in and eventually pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges tied to the wreck. Last summer, he was sentenced to five years probation, 30 days in jail and ordered to cover the victims' medical expenses.

The NFL also disciplined Rice under its personal conduct policy, suspending him for the first six games of last season.

On the field, Rice remained one of Kansas City's top offensive targets when available, finishing last season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns. Still, it was a rough year overall for the Chiefs, who finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs.

Now, Rice's future again comes with questions — both legally and professionally — as the Chiefs prepare for the 2026 season.
