According to court documents that TMZobtained, Sanchez's wife, Teresa Tapia, filed for divorce earlier this year, just weeks before the former UFC star avoided prison time in a criminal weapons case.

Tapia reportedly filed the petition on Feb. 16, citing irreconcilable differences and saying there was no reasonable hope for reconciliation. The couple had been married since December 2024, though documents indicated they had already been living separately since April 2025.

The divorce appears to have moved forward quietly and without much dispute. Court filings stated there was no shared property or debt to divide, and both sides waived any claim to spousal support.

Tapia also released a statement to TMZ expressing support for Sanchez despite the split.

"I was very patient and continued to try and help him through his problems," she said, adding that she ultimately felt she "had no choice but to end the marriage."

Still, she made it clear there's no bitterness on her end, saying she will "always have love for him" and continue supporting him from afar.

The timing comes shortly after Sanchez resolved his criminal case tied to allegations that he fired a weapon from or at a moving vehicle. Prosecutors had reportedly pushed for prison time, but Sanchez instead received five years of supervised probation and 800 hours of community service.

The former UFC title challenger has long been one of MMA's more unpredictable and controversial figures, both during and after his fighting career.

Now, it appears he's entering another difficult chapter away from the spotlight.
