According to the announcement, the Truck Series teams will attempt to get the race going at 8 a.m. ET. FS1 will still provide coverage while the NASCAR Racing Network will have the radio coverage.
The goal will be to get the race completed before O'Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and qualifying, which take place at 11 a.m. ET (CW app).
NASCAR made multiple changes to the schedule on Friday in an attempt to beat the inclement weather in Concord, North Carolina. The original green flag time was 7:52 p.m. ET. NASCAR then moved it to 7:30 p.m. ET. NASCAR then moved the time again to 7 p.m. ET.
The pre-race ceremonies took place under cloudy skies. The series held a moment of silence for Kyle Busch, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 41. They then did the invocation and the national anthem.
The drivers fired the engines and then Corey Day led the field out onto the track for pace laps. However, the field never took the green flag. NASCAR kept adding caution laps as the rain began to sprinkle the track surface.
The tower ultimately sent the field back down pit road. The drivers initially stayed in their vehicles while hoping that the rain would quickly move through the area. NASCAR even sent the track drying equipment out.
These efforts were in vain. The rain only continued. Just after 8 p.m. ET, NASCAR made the decision to just pull the plug and move the race to Saturday morning.
Although the forecast for Saturday does not appear to be promising. WeatherUnderground calls for rain showers all night and all day at the track. This includes an 80% chance of rain at 7 a.m., a 37% chance of rain at 8 a.m., and a 16% chance of rain at 9 a.m.
