According to TMZ, shots were fired while a contractor was working at the couple's Hollywood Hills residence, prompting a police response and an ongoing investigation.

Authorities said no injuries were reported. Sources told the outlet that a tire on the contractor's vehicle was struck during the incident. Avery and Rhoda were not home at the time.

Law enforcement officials responded to the area after receiving reports of possible gunfire Tuesday afternoon. One person was taken into custody, according to the report.

TMZ later reported that the individual detained was believed to be Avery's neighbor.

According to law enforcement sources cited by the outlet, police had also responded to Avery's residence earlier in the day following a report involving alleged criminal threats.

The caller reportedly told officers that a neighbor had been harassing and threatening contractors working at the property and that similar issues had occurred previously.

However, TMZ reported that officers did not observe evidence of criminal threats during that earlier visit and no report was filed at the time.

Officials have not publicly announced any charges, and investigators continue to work to determine exactly what led to the shooting.

Avery, who played 13 NHL seasons and spent time with the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Dallas Stars, has not publicly commented on the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
