Trejo's club, Club Sport Marítimo La Guaira, confirmed the deaths in a statement posted on social media, offering condolences and support to the veteran midfielder and his family.
"Lucas, you are not alone. Your family at Maritime La Guaira is with you," the club wrote.
According to CNN Español, Trejo was attending his team's training camp in Caracas when the earthquakes struck. He immediately traveled to his family's home in La Guaira, one of the areas hardest hit by the disaster, and spent several days searching through the rubble alongside relatives and volunteers.
Trejo's brother-in-law, Ricardo Ardiles, told CNN Español that the player's beachfront home had been destroyed.
The search ended when the club confirmed the deaths of Trejo's wife, Yanina, and the couple's two children, Aarón and Ainhoa.
The earthquakes, which struck Venezuela last week, have claimed more than 1,400 lives, according to authorities, with thousands of people still reported missing as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
The disaster has also affected the country's soccer community. The Venezuelan Football Federation said youth national team player Yimvert Berroteran was among those killed, while clubs also confirmed the deaths of young players Víctor Palacios and Razan Sijaa.
Rescue crews continue searching damaged neighborhoods as officials work to locate survivors and account for those still missing in one of the deadliest natural disasters to strike Venezuela in more than a century.
