Layne Riggs does not yet know his plans for the 2027 NASCAR season, but he has confirmed that a move to the Cup Series remains a possibility.

The Craftsman Truck Series points leader provided the update on Friday during an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. He told Jeff Gluck and Alan Cavanna that a Cup Series ride is a possibility and that he is working very hard "every day to make that happen." Although he added that he has nothing to report at the moment.
"I would like to know my plans, too," Riggs said during the appearance on On Track. "I'm not sure either. I actually...we don't have any plans yet, we're just trying to figure out how early Silly Season works out first to see if there's an opportunity for me.
"But I'd love to make my first start (in the Cup Series) at some point. This year would be great, but it's not looking great for the timeline of having to get your first start before The Chase starts in Cup.
"Whenever that opportunity arises, I would love to do it, but at the same time, I want to make sure that I start with a splash, same kind of way I did with the Truck Series."
If Riggs hopes to remain with Front Row Motorsports, a possible seat could open. Noah Gragson, driver of the No. 4 Ford, confirmed on The Dale Jr. Download earlier this week that he continues to try to find a job for 2027.
The other two Cup Series seats at Front Row Motorsports — the No. 34 and No. 38 — are already set for 2027 after both Todd Gilliland and Zane Smith signed contract extensions.
A North Carolina native, Riggs has become a contender at every track on the NASCAR circuit. He started out as a self-proclaimed "one-trick pony" due to his experience competing on short tracks on the Late Model circuit, which he showed with early wins at the Milwaukee Mile and Bristol Motor Speedway.
The past two years, however, he has shown that he can deliver strong results for Front Row Motorsports regardless of location. He won three races last season, including at Pocono Raceway.
This season, he leads the series with four wins. He captured the inaugural street race in St. Petersburg, Florida, and then he scored wins at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Nashville Superspeedway.
Riggs' most recent victory came in the inaugural street race on Naval Base Coronado. This victory prompted him to dub himself Layne van Riggsbergen, a play on Shane van Gisbergen's name.
