According to NBC 6 South Florida, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office estimated that 58,946 fans attended the third-place game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The overwhelming majority watched England defeat France 6-4 to close out the country's time in the tournament.
Six people, however, ended the day in custody. This includes three vendors who now face serious charges due to their actions. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office did not provide many details about the other three people arrested on Saturday.
NBC 6 South Florida reports that the three vendors are facing felony charges due to an alleged scheme to defraud their employer. The members of this trio reportedly used their point of sale devices to give customers free food during the World Cup match.
They then charged the value of the food as a tip on the card transactions. The customers did not notice the discrepancy, as they still paid the expected amount for the concessions. However, the three vendors reportedly collected more than $10,000 in the form of tips.
Serious charges aside, this weekend's game did not mark the first time that the authorities in Miami had run-ins with World Cup fans. Officers throughout South Florida previously had to respond to bars and other locations due to the behavior of fans.
This history includes ejecting numerous England fans from a bar ahead of a quarterfinals game between England and Norway. Officers in Miami also had to arrest multiple fans ahead of a match between Colombia and Portugal.

Not all interactions between World Cup fans and the authorities involved handcuffs, however. The Scotland fans took part in a Tartan Army march down South Beach's Ocean Drive. These fans took opportunities to pose with law enforcement officers maintaining the peace.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is complete. Spain won the title after Sunday afternoon's 1-0 victory over Argentina.
