The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has provided a major update on a case involving a Los Angeles Rams player.

Alaric Jackson, 28, will not face felony charges after being arrested for alleged domestic violence in June. ESPN notes that his case has been assigned for a pre-filing diversion, which is an alternative to misdemeanor criminal prosecution.
Police arrested Jackson at his San Fernando Valley home on June 8 after being called. They learned that Jackson and a woman had taken part in a verbal argument. Investigators said that the woman had scratch marks on her arms.
The argument reportedly centered around Jackson thinking that the woman was recording him with her phone. The NFL player allegedly attempted to take the phone from her during the argument.
"Charges are not filed against the respondent at this time, however, the case stays open throughout the length of the statute of limitations. It can be re-evaluated if there are further developments," said Ivor Pine, a spokesperson for the city attorney's office.
The situation is not yet over for Jackson. He could potentially face discipline from the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy.
He previously served a two-game suspension in 2024 for violating this policy. This followed a woman reporting an incident to the NFL and ultimately filing a lawsuit against Jackson. The woman alleged that he had recorded her without consent during sex and then refused to delete the video. She alleged that he also taunted her with the video.
Jackson entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa. He signed with the Rams and started four games as a rookie in 2021 while providing crucial depth for the team. He appeared in two playoff games during the 2021 season as the Rams won the Super Bowl.
Jackson expanded his role as he started eight games in 2022. He then became the full-time starter in 2023. He has remained the starting left tackle ever since while signing a three-year, $57 million contract extension. Last season, he started 16 games during the regular season and all three playoffs games as the Rams reached the NFC championship.
