The Washington Commanders have added another proven playmaker to their offense.

According to ESPN, the Commanders are signing four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract worth up to $12 million.
The move gives Washington an accomplished veteran to pair with Terry McLaurin while adding experience and production to a receiving corps that battled injuries throughout last season.
Diggs, 32, has topped 1,000 receiving yards in seven of the past eight seasons. He caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns with the New England Patriots in 2025 before being released at the start of the 2026 league year.
A first-team All-Pro in 2020 after leading the NFL in receptions, Diggs has spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Patriots during his career.
The signing also represents something of a homecoming. Diggs grew up in the Washington area and starred at Maryland before entering the NFL.
Washington's need for another established receiver became apparent last season after McLaurin missed seven games because of injury, forcing the Commanders to lean heavily on younger and less experienced pass catchers.
The Commanders also added rookie Antonio Williams through the draft and return young receivers Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane, but Diggs immediately becomes one of quarterback Jayden Daniels' top targets entering the 2026 season.
The Commanders had also monitored San Francisco receiver Brandon Aiyuk's situation earlier in the offseason, according to ESPN, before ultimately turning their attention to Diggs.
If healthy, Diggs gives Washington one of the more accomplished veteran receivers available this offseason and another proven weapon as the Commanders look to build on last year's playoff run.
