Speaking with media on Tuesday, investigators announced charges against Terrell Williams, 44. They say that the individual from Stone Mountain, Georgia, forced his way into Biffle's home after the NASCAR driver's death and made off with $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, multiple bags, and assorted NASCAR memorabilia.

Biffle was one of seven individuals who died on Dec. 18, 2025, in a plane crash at the Statesville Regional Airport north of Charlotte. The burglary then happened in January, weeks after the crash.

According to WCNC, Williams is being held in Cobb County, Georgia, on a separate burglary charge. Iredell County officials are working to secure a transfer to North Carolina so that he can face charges related to the break-in at Biffle's home.

If the transfer happens, it will be after Williams faces charges in Cobb County, Georgia.

The connection between the robberies became known on July 29. The Cobb County Police Department had contacted the Iredell County Sheriff's Office and provided details about Williams.

They had recovered multiple items belonging to Biffle, including championship rings and other NASCAR memorabilia.

Back in May, a detective wrote in a search warrant application that he believed the break-in was a "coverup to steal evidence of a more elaborate plan" involving Biffle's friends. This warrant application said that these friends had "strategically executed" a plan involving "multiple counts of fraud" on bank accounts belonging to Biffle and his wife.

Investigators said at the time that they had identified a woman seen in surveillance footage of the break-in at Biffle's house. They had matched her features to someone attending a celebration of life for Biffle, his family, and the other victims of the plane crash.
