Another NFL trade is in the books with the regular season closing in.

The New England Patriots are sending wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans in exchange for safety Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round draft pick, according to multiple reports.
The move comes after Boutte requested a trade earlier this offseason and found himself facing a diminished role in New England.
Boutte, 24, caught 33 passes for 551 yards and six touchdowns last season, playing 67 percent of the Patriots' offensive snaps. But New England's additions of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs made playing time tougher to come by in 2026.
Houston, meanwhile, suddenly has a need at receiver.
Second-year wideout Jayden Higgins tore his ACL in practice last week, while Tank Dell continues working his way back from the serious leg injury that cost him the entire 2025 season. The Texans also recently added veterans Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard.
Boutte now joins a receiving corps led by Nico Collins.
Reed, 22, was a sixth-round pick out of Penn State in the 2025 NFL Draft. He appeared in seven regular-season games for Houston as a rookie, recording 14 tackles and a fumble recovery while also contributing on special teams.
He saw a larger defensive role late in the season and appeared in both of Houston's playoff games.
Reed now heads to a Patriots safety room led by Kevin Byard and Craig Woodson, while Boutte gets the fresh start he had been seeking.
And with Week 1 just around the corner, NFL rosters are clearly still very much under construction.
