ESPN's standalone streaming service has only been around for a year, and subscribers are already about to pay more for it.

The outlet will raise prices for both of its streaming plans beginning Sept. 17, according to Variety, with the increase arriving just as the busiest stretch of the sports calendar gets underway.
ESPN Unlimited will jump from $29.99 to $31.99 per month, while its annual subscription will increase from $299.99 to $319.99.
The less expensive ESPN Select plan is going up, too. That service will increase from $12.99 to $13.99 per month and from $129.99 to $139.99 annually.
Unlimited is ESPN's all-in offering, providing access to ESPN and ESPN2 along with ESPNU, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network and thousands of additional events. The network says the package includes more than 47,000 live events annually.
Select offers roughly 32,000 events but doesn't include its traditional linear networks. The price hike comes almost exactly one year after the outlet launched its direct-to-consumer service.
In an internal memo obtained by Variety, company chairman Jimmy Pitaro characterized the first year as a success.
"Early on, we have delivered," Pitaro wrote, adding that the outlet is moving forward with "absolute confidence in where we are headed."
One number ESPN hasn't revealed, however, is how many people are actually paying for its streaming plans.
The increases also arrive as ESPN continues expanding its sports offerings, including the addition of NFL Network content and its five-year, $1.6 billion partnership with WWE for premium live events.
So ESPN's streaming experiment is entering Year 2 with more content, bigger ambitions and, for customers, a slightly bigger bill.
