DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — As the Cup Series drivers climbed into their cars for the regular-season finale at Daytona International Speedway, NASCAR Hall of Famer Jimmie Johnson took part in a special ceremony.

Johnson pulled the cover off a Toyota Camry XSE and officially revealed the nostalgic scheme that he will run during his final Cup Series start, the 2027 Daytona 500.
This Toyota features the No. 48, which Johnson will use during the 2027 Daytona 500 after getting permission from Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR. It has a silver and blue color palette to reflect the Lowe's scheme that he used while winning seven championships.

All three of his primary sponsors have prominent placement on the Toyota. Carvana has the biggest logos, but both Lowe's and Ally partnered with the company to properly send Johnson off into the sunset.
Of course, the biggest draw for longtime fans of Johnson is the Day-Glo used for the accents on his Cup Series car. This includes the roof and door numbers and the stripe on the front splitter.
This reveal is one that Johnson teased throughout Saturday while fans and teams prepared for the night race. He and Legacy Motor Club made posts on social media teasing something big, and then he posted a video of a covered car being unloaded from one of his team's haulers.
The covered car sat in the garage area throughout the afternoon and early evening, under the watchful eyes of NASCAR officials. It then finally ended up on pit road as part of the pre-race festivities.
The unveil did not simply end with Johnson pulling off the car cover. He actually hopped in the driver's seat and took the No. 48 Toyota on a lap around the track. He saluted to the fans while they cheered and applauded.

"Seeing this car for the first time brings back a lifetime of memories," the Hall of Famer said in a press release. "Lowe's was there for the foundation of my Cup career and so many of its greatest moments. Ally supported me through my final full-time seasons and helped make it possible for the 48 to return for this race.
"Carvana believed in what came next and has continued to support my journey as a driver and team owner. To have all three represented on this car is incredibly meaningful. It honors where I've been, the relationships that made it possible and the people who are still beside me for one last ride."
