Canada defeated the United States 27-20 in the gold-medal game at the 2026 IFAF Women's Flag Football World Championship in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The victory ended Team USA's run of three consecutive world championships and gave Canada its third world title and first since 2014.
Quarterback Sara Parker was named tournament MVP after helping Canada complete its championship run.
The United States had to survive a major scare before even reaching the gold-medal game. Team USA edged host Germany 35-34 in the quarterfinals before defeating Great Britain 27-21 in the semifinals.
Canada had a more comfortable trip through the knockout rounds, beating Austria 40-12 in the quarterfinals and Mexico 20-6 in the semifinals.

The tournament also helped establish the field for flag football's Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
The United States is automatically qualified as the host nation, while Canada and Mexico secured spots through their performances at the World Championship. The women's Olympic tournament will feature six teams.
The remaining spots will be determined through the next stages of international qualification.
But today, Canada owns the biggest prize in women's flag football.
