The unidentified man was discovered near Bernard Street and Stadium Way at approximately 8:48 p.m., an LAPD spokesperson told the California Post.

The location is only a few hundred yards from Dodger Stadium, where the Dodgers and Cardinals were in the middle of their game.

According to the report, police were dispatched after 911 callers said they could see a body "in plain sight." Authorities investigated the death and said foul play was not suspected.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said the case remained pending identification and notification of the man's next of kin as of Thursday.

No additional information about the man's identity or the circumstances surrounding his death had been released.

The discovery occurred while thousands of MLB fans were attending Wednesday night's game at Dodger Stadium. First pitch was at 7:10 p.m., roughly an hour and a half before authorities were called to the nearby scene.

The game continued and concluded shortly after 10 p.m. Los Angeles ultimately lost to St. Louis 8-6 in extra innings.

Authorities have not indicated that the man's death had any connection to the game or the Dodgers organization.
