Patrick Mahomes appears ready to make his long-awaited return.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday there is a "pretty good chance" Mahomes will start the team's season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
That would mark Mahomes' first game action in nine months after suffering torn ACL and MCL ligaments in his knee last December.
"There's a pretty good chance that Patrick will go ahead and start unless something were to come up in the next couple of days," Reid said, via the Kansas City Star.
At this point, there doesn't seem to be much reason to believe something will.
Mahomes has been working with Kansas City's first-team offense throughout training camp and continued taking those reps after camp ended.
"He's showed everything," Reid said. "He hasn't missed a day."
Reid added that other than the brace on Mahomes' knee, the three-time Super Bowl champion looks like his old self.
"He's running around the same way he's always done, throwing the ball like he's always done," Reid said.
Mahomes tore his ACL and MCL during Kansas City's Dec. 14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and underwent surgery the following night.
He missed the final three games of a miserable season for the Chiefs, who lost all three and finished 6-11. It marked their worst record since Reid arrived in Kansas City.
Mahomes also sat out the entire preseason for the first time in his career as the Chiefs took no chances with their franchise quarterback.
Now the waiting appears just about over. Barring a late setback, Mahomes will be back under center Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium.
And after nine months of rehab, that might be the best news Chiefs fans have heard all year.
