The New York Giants will reportedly be without Jaxson Dart for the rest of the 2026 NFL season.

The 23-year-old quarterback is expected to undergo surgery on his injured left knee, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported. Although Dart's ACL remains intact and he is expected to make a full recovery, the operation will end his second professional season after only two games.
Dart suffered the injury during the first quarter of New York's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on "Monday Night Football." He was hit by two defenders on the Giants' seventh offensive snap and left the field after being examined by trainers.
Initial X-rays reportedly revealed damage to Dart's medial collateral ligament, creating hope that he might return within several weeks. Further testing found additional damage involving his meniscus and posterior cruciate ligament, according to the New York Post.
Dart sought multiple medical opinions before surgery was determined to be necessary.
The injury brings a sudden end to what had been a promising start. Dart completed 76.5 percent of his passes across 76 snaps, throwing three touchdowns without an interception. He helped New York beat the Dallas Cowboys, 28-20, in its season opener.
Veteran backup Jameis Winston will now take control of the offense. The former No. 1 overall pick struggled after replacing Dart against Los Angeles, but the Giants recently signed him to a two-year, $13 million extension.
New York hosts the Tennessee Titans in Week 3.
