Armando Castro, the driver of El Toro Loco in Monster Jam competition, has announced that he will miss extended time after having to undergo surgery.

Castro provided the update with a post on Instagram on Wednesday. He did not provide many details about his injury, but he said that it occurred away from the arenas in which he competes.
"As many of you have seen, I unfortunately had to step away from the remainder of the Fall Stadium Tour," Castro wrote. "This past Sunday, I was involved in a freak accident at home that left me unable to finish out the tour.
"Thankfully, surgery went great today, and I'm officially on the road to recovery. I'm truly sorry to all the fans I won't get the chance to see for the rest of this tour.
"I was really looking forward to seeing you all, putting on a show, and finishing this tour strong. Your support means more to me than you know."
Castro continued and said that his focus remains on healing and getting back to full health. He said that this will only be temporary setback and that he will return.
A native of California, Castro has competed in Monster Jam since 2017. He is one of six drivers involved in the El Toro Loco team, a group that includes Peter Nyman and Joe Foley among others.
Castro has earned many accolades throughout his Monster Jam career, including being named Rising Star of the Year in 2021. He also won the Arena Championship Series East title in 2024, the Fall Stadium Series title in 2025, and the Arena Championship Series West this year.
Castro is currently fifth in the 2026 Stadium Fall Series standings and seven points back of Tyler Menninga, driver of Grave Digger, who leads the standings.
Cynthia Gauthier (Lucas Stabilizer) is second while Camden Murphy (The Amazing Spider-Man) is third. Tristan England (JCB DIGatron) is the only other driver currently ahead of Castro.
