Eli Tomac, a wildly successful racer, has decided to officially call it a career after closing out the 2026 season.

The 33-year-old racer had announced weeks prior that he would retire from full-time competition. He made it official after the Monster Energy SMX World Championship Final at Thunder Ridge Arena.
Tomac competed for the final time in the 450 class, and he ended the year 11th in the standings.
The weekend became quite emotional for the multi-time champion as fans celebrated him in numerous ways.
"Oh, it has sunk in, and I was trying to have fun, but to be straight up, there were some stressful moments for me out there," Tomac said after his final race. "I got close to the hay-bales twice in that last moto, and I'm like, 'I should not be doing this right now' (laughs).
"But what a ride it has been - I got to literally live the dream, and yeah, it's been a ride. I'm so thankful for everyone, and I've said this a million times, but I truly am grateful for the whole family of Supercross and Pro Motocross, so, thank you."
Tomac accomplished a major amount during his professional career, despite having to recover from a neck injury.
He won two 450 Supercross (SX) championships (2020, 2022). He also won four 450 Motocross (MX) championships (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022).
Tomac has 57 main event wins in 450SX, which ranks second on the all-time list behind Ryan Dungey. He has 32 wins in 450MX, which ranks fourth all-time. He is second all-time behind Ricky Carmichael in combined wins.
A possibility remained earlier in the season that Tomac could return for 2027. He would have competed only in Monster Energy Supercross.
Yet, he made the decision to walk away from the sport after nearly two decades of professional competition.
Another legendary racer celebrated the retirement with a meaningful gift. Ken Roczen had a custom helmet painted so that he could give it to Tomac. This helmet featured Red Bull graphics and numerous photos of them competing together over the years.
