The longtime Monday Night Football analyst addressed a reported argument with his broadcast partner Thursday, offering little detail about the exchange but making his uncertain future clear.

"There's probably a time and a place for all that. I don't know if now is the time," Aikman told 96.7 The Ticket. "I'll broadcast through this season and I'll be a free agent at the end of the year and kind of see what happens."

Then came the line that will get football viewers' attention.

"I'm looking forward to whatever the rest of this season does hold and the Super Bowl and all that and where my next landing spot may be."

Front Office Sports reported that Buck raised Aikman's contract situation before Monday's Bills-Rams game in Los Angeles, leading to an argument that eventually de-escalated. The pair went on to call Buffalo's overtime victory.

Buck reportedly signed a six-year extension worth approximately $108 million. Aikman's contract expires after ESPN's first Super Bowl broadcast in February, and he has said he hasn't heard from network executives about a new deal.

The Athletic previously reported that ESPN planned to address Aikman's situation after the Super Bowl.

Aikman and Buck have worked together since 2002, moving from Fox to ESPN in 2022. His comments stop short of announcing a departure, but they hardly sound like someone certain the partnership will continue.

ESPN has secured one half of its marquee booth. The other is openly discussing free agency.
