Samantha Busch returned to the podcasting world on Friday with a new episode focused on her late husband, Kyle, and she used the opportunity to share a humorous story about a serious moment in their lives.

Back in 2023, Busch was detained at a Mexican airport after a handgun and ammunition were discovered in his luggage. He was sentenced to more than three years in jail and fined $1,000, but he was allowed to leave the country after paying a bond.
Samantha revealed on Certified Oversharer that Busch actually tried to turn this arrest in Mexico into a business opportunity for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
"In true Kyle fashion, like he takes this horrible situation, like isn't affected by it by the way like a normal person would be," Samantha explained on the newest episode of her podcast.
"At one point, as I like I'm going to visit him and so is Mike (Verlander, former Kyle Busch Motorsports president), like, 'How is it in there? Are you OK?'
"And he was like, 'You know, it's kind of relaxing. I mean, I don't have a phone, so I don't have to like do any work, and I can nap all day if I want to. Granted, there's ants and bugs all over the floor. But like, really, it's not bad.'
"And there's another part when he went from jail to prison that he met this guy named Angel and Angel had a lot of money. And so he's trying to get truck sponsorship out of a Mexican prisoner."
This Truck Series sponsorship never happened for Kyle Busch Motorsports, at least not that anyone ever publicly discovered. Busch returned to the United States from Mexico and issued a statement on social media saying that he had a concealed handgun license and that he had made a mistake.
He continued competing in the NASCAR Cup Series, and he won three races in his first season at Richard Childress Racing. He moved on with his career and the remaining days of his life, but he never quite forgot this trip to Mexico.
Samantha also revealed that Busch had a date saved on his phone calendar, marking the moment that he could legally discuss the arrest. They had planned to sit down on the podcast with Verlander and talk about the wild situation south of the border.
Obviously, this never happened due to Busch's sudden passing on May 21 at the age of 41. But Samantha plans to continue telling stories about her husband moving forward with her podcast.
