Those within Formula 1 also took part while highlighting a unique moment in Stewart's life. They remembered the time that he did a "shoey" with now-retired racer Daniel Ricciardo.

This unique moment took place after the 2017 Grand Prix of Canada at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Ricciardo, who finished third behind race-winner Lewis Hamilton and runner-up Valtteri Bottas, took off his racing shoe after some prompting from Stewart.

The then-Red Bull driver then poured champagne into his racing shoe before handing it to Stewart. The legendary actor then yelled, "Cheers" to the roaring crowd before performing the shoey (drinking directly out of the shoe).

Sir Stewart committed to the bit. He chugged the alcohol out of the shoe as it ran down his face and onto his button down shirt. He then held the shoe in triumph.

This Australian tradition of drinking alcohol out of a racing shoe may have been a hazing ritual at one point in time, but it has become a celebratory act for numerous figures in the racing industry. Ricciardo, in particular, performed the act after a podium finish in his 100th Grand Prix.

Ricciardo pressured many people to perform the shoey after races. This list includes actor Gerard Butler, multi-time champion Max Verstappen, former driver Mark Webber, former Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner, and former World Champion Nico Rosberg.

The shoey has since expanded to other forms of motorsports. This includes parts of NASCAR as drivers across the three national series have celebrated in this manner after important moments in their respective careers.

Craftsman Truck Series driver Ben Rhodes specifically had his team perform a shoey after the 2023 season finale at Phoenix Raceway. They used this method to celebrate his second championship.
