Sean White officially named starter for Auburn

In his presser on Tuesday, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn definitely named quarterback Sean White as the starter for Saturday's game at Arkansas.

"Yes, Sean is the starting quarterback," Malzahn said. The statement ended a several week long question, as Auburn had been playing its starting quarterback as a "week-to-week" decision ever since White was named the starter ahead of the Mississippi State game.

In three games as the starter, White has completed 66-percent of his passes while leading Auburn to a 2-1 record. However, White has yet to throw for a touchdown, which has partially been because of Peyton Barber's exquisite play from the running back spot in recent weeks.

For Johnson, this might be the need of what has been a hugely disappointing season. Touted as a Heisman candidate in the offseason, Johnson threw six interceptions in Auburn's first three games, which included a blowout loss to LSU and a near-fall to FCS team Jacksonville State. It is currently unclear if Auburn plans to use Johnson on situational plays that could call for a QB draw or related run.
