Florida State's first-year senior QB is closing in on this unparalleled feat

Everett Golson has become the polar opposite of the turnover-prone quarterback he was a year ago with Notre Dame.

At this point last season, Golson was well on his way to the 22 turnovers (14 interceptions and 8 fumbles) he would end the season with, a number that would exceed the turnover totals of 63 FBS schools.

Through six games in 2015, Golson has yet to commit a single turnover — interception or fumble — and he's one of just four quarterbacks in the country with no interceptions with at least 100 attempts.

The turnaround is a testament to Golson's character and his willingness to put in the work, sure, but the Myrtle Beach, S.C., native is on the brink of an even greater achievement — leading two major programs to undefeated seasons and national championship berths.

As a freshman in 2012, Golson led Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season and a spot in the national championship game, where it lost to Alabama. Things took a turn for Golson the following year when he was dismissed from the program for the entire 2013 season for cheating on a test. He returned in 2014, but ultimately lost the starting job to Malik Zaire amid his turnover issues.

That said, it's hard not to use the word redemption here for the graduate transfer who has taken over Jameis Winston. And with No. 6 Clemson and No. 13 Florida likely to be the only true obstacles left for 9th ranked Florida State, redemption could be right around the corner.
