A new ranking of the best college football uniforms has emerged and Michigan tops the list

The Michigan Wolverines are experiencing somewhat surprising success on the college football field in 2015, but fans of the program have always maintained the superiority of the team's uniforms. Now, they can back up that feeling with a bit of evidence.

Alan Siegel of USA Today's Fan Index weighed in on the ten best uniforms in college football, and to the surprise of no one in Ann Arbor, Michigan tops the list. Here is a snippet of his breakdown:

By the standards of modern college football, the look of Michigan's uniforms aren't cutting edge. But while they lack the variety of say, Oregon's seemingly endless array of jersey and helmet designs, the Wolverines' threads are classic. Nothing beats U of M's blue and maize jerseys, pants, and winged helmets.

Siegel went on to focus on how the current look came to be, and in terms of the ranking, he quipped that "what truly sets the Wolverines' uniforms apart are the team's winged helmets." Michigan ranks ahead of Oregon and Notre Dame in the top three, with only Ohio State joining the Wolverines on the list among Big Ten programs.

With a move to Nike (and, more importantly, a move away from Adidas) arriving in the coming months, it is safe to predict that Michigan will remain in this conversation for a long time, but in terms of 2015, the Wolverines are number one.
