Arkansas wideout Dominique Reed carted off field after taking a scary, big hit

The receiver was on the field being tended to for several minutes before being stabilized and carted off the field.

This was a pretty frightening scene in Memphis, Tn. during the Autozone Liberty Bowl. In the second quarter between Arkansas and Kansas State, Razorback wide receiver Dominique Reed caught a pass in the red zone and took one tackle, and attempted to duck his head to avoid another one from K-State defensive back Sean Newlan. He still took the hit though, and went down while immediately dropping the ball as he did.

Newlan was not called for targeting on the play. Reed was down for several minutes as trainers evaluated him. ESPN sideline reporter Dawn Davenport reported that it was a neck injury, but he was conscious and had some movement in his fingers. He was put onto a stretcher and his arms and legs were strapped down before being carted off the field on a golf cart. Davenport reported he was being transported to Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Later in the broadcast, ESPN provided an update stating that there were "positive signs."

Reed had six touchdowns on the season, along with 520 receiving yards.
